What is deadwooding?
Deadwooding is the removal of dead branches from a living tree. It targets the failing wood rather than automatically removing the whole tree.
What is canopy thinning?
Canopy thinning removes selected branches from a dense crown while keeping the tree’s basic size and shape.
Is thinning the same as topping?
No. Thinning uses selective cuts within the canopy. Topping removes the upper crown without following the same structure.
Can dead branches be removed near a house?
Yes, depending on the tree and access. Cypress looks at what sits beneath and around the branches before quoting the work.
How much of the canopy should be removed?
There is no single percentage for every tree. The amount depends on the tree, its condition and the problem the work is meant to solve.
Who decides which branches come out?
Jon Bitner is a certified arborist and assesses the branch structure before recommending the cuts.
